At Chalk, we want to make your transition as smooth as possible, so we’ve put together answers to some of the most common questions. This will give you a clear idea of what to expect, how we operate, and how we can help you get the most out of your fitness journey.

I'M NEW TO THE GYM.
IS THAT OK?
No prior gym experience is required! Our classes are suitable for all fitness levels, and our experienced coaches provide personalised guidance to help you succeed. Just bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn, and we’ll support you every step of the way on your fitness journey!

WHAT IF I CAN'T PERFORM A MOVEMENT, OR LIFT THE WEIGHTS IN A GIVEN WORKOUT?
We understand that each individual has unique abilities, and we're committed to making sure every workout is accessible.
If a particular movement or weight is too challenging, our experienced coaches will provide modifications to accommodate your needs. Whether it's adjusting the movement, reducing the weight, or scaling the intensity, our goal is to ensure you continue progressing safely and effectively. Fitness is about gradual improvement, and we are here to support you at every step.

WHAT DOES A CLASS LOOK LIKE?
Every class is designed to be fun, supportive, and challenging—no matter your fitness level. Here's a glimpse of what you can expect:

Workout Brief (2-5 minutes): We introduce the workout of the day, set clear goals, and explain how the session will be tailored to different fitness levels

General Warm-Up (5-7 minutes): We get your body moving with light, dynamic exercises to prepare for the session ahead.

Specific Warm-Up (5-10 minutes): Coach-led drills to fine-tune your technique and introduce new skills

Strength Training (10-20 minutes): Build your strength by learning new movements or improving on the ones you already know.

Conditioning (10-20 minutes): High-energy exercises to push your endurance and stamina in a fun, challenging way.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I'M INJURED?
Injury doesn’t have to stop your fitness journey. Our coaches are here to help you continue training safely by modifying exercises to avoid pain and support your recovery. We’ll never ask you to do something that causes discomfort, but we also don’t want you to miss out on your workouts altogether. There’s always a way to adjust so you can stay active without risking further injury.
As long as you’ve been cleared by a doctor to raise your heart rate and move, staying active will actually speed up your recovery. Our coaches are experienced in making adjustments that allow you to keep moving and maintain a healthy lifestyle while you heal.

HOW CAN I MAKE THE MOST OUT OF MY FIRST MONTH OF TRAINING?
Starting at a new gym can feel both exciting and a little nerve-wracking—that’s completely normal! The best approach? Dive in, stay curious, and enjoy the process.

Our classes are welcoming and adaptable, so whether you’re new or experienced, you’ll feel right at home.

To build a solid foundation, aim for 2-3 sessions per week and focus on consistency. Don’t hesitate to ask our coaches for help—they’re here to guide and support you. Most importantly, be patient, have fun, and celebrate your progress, no matter how small. Success comes with time and commitment!

WILL LIFTING WEIGHTS MAKE ME BULKY?
We often hear this concern from people worried about adding too much muscle—but don’t worry, getting “bulky” is extremely difficult. Our classes are designed to improve your overall health by building strength and fitness, not to make you bulky.
​
With consistent effort, you may notice positive changes in your body shape over time, but our approach isn’t focused on maximising muscle size. If your goal is to build large amounts of muscle, there are other training methods better suited to that.

HOW DO MEMBERSHIPS WORK?
Whether it’s 2 sessions one week and 4 the next, you’re in control of your schedule. Plus, any unused credits automatically roll over to the next month, so you never lose out.

All memberships come with a simple 30-day cancellation policy, keeping things hassle-free.
