It would be nice if we could protect our kids from everything that life throws at them, but we can’t. The best thing we can do is make them strong. Through our teens's fitness program, they will develop qualities like trust, cohesion, self-accountability, and confidence, unlike anything we’ve seen elsewhere.
If that's not enough reason to start, here's 3 core reasons why teens should do CrossFit:
1. To become more athletic & confident.
If you have ever dreamt of being fit and in good shape, CrossFit makes that a reality. Crossfit makes you athletic by improving your strength, endurance, power, agility and mobility. The workouts consist of gymnastics, strength training and endurance training - a combination that offers full-body workouts to keep you entire body in shape.
With such diverse programming, CrossFit is full of little challenges and little victories. Maybe it’s a 12″ box jump, maybe a pull-up, maybe it a personal best on a run distance. Once a teen faces their doubts and overcomes an obstacle, they build confidence and self-esteem. At Chalk we celebrate effort, not just talent, so every achievement - no matter how big or small, comes with a high-five from our coaches and classmates!
2. To build friendships & relationships.
CrossFitting is not all about lifting and sweating. When you join Chalk, your fellow classmates become part of your life. You go through the same challenges which builds camaraderie. Teens learn how to interact, collaborate, and support one another through exercise. This is a great way to learn how to be a team player, especially for kids that don’t enjoy team sports.
3. Build healthy habits.
Thanks to the advancement in social media technology, the world is more connected than ever before. Yet this has led to humans becoming more sedentary than ever. CrossFit offers an outlet to be physically active, but also through instilling healthy habits and education on health, fitness and nutrition.
We educate our teens on the importance of nutrition, training and recovery so they understand the 'why' behind each element. We teach them how to eat to perform, not chase a number on the scales. We focus on good technique instead of trying to go lift as heavy as possible. We celebrate what our bodies can do instead of focusing on aesthetics. We use a FUN combination of calisthenics, running, rowing, jumping, throwing, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing and lifting which makes teens LOVE exercise.
